Cass was a nightmare in white silk and pearls.
And it wasn’t just the fact that she was garishly dressed or the fact that she had walked into the basement level massive conference hall that was hosting over a couple of hundred top notch industry leaders including the entire top brass of her company headed by her own boss, the very proper and venerable Mohan Kalsi, the owner of Infra Metals, the million dollar conglomerate where she worked as a Vice President, Corporate Communications.
“Look who’s here, our very own Cass. And is that your lucky charm…err…I mean the birthmark…looks more like a racoon?”
Before Cass could turn around, the person, a tall statuesque woman had moved ahead and all she noticed were her swigging hips as it swayed to and fro like a yo yo, wrapped it were in yards of a shimmer jet black diaphonous sari.
“Oh, don’t her, or anyone for that matter. Your beauty outshines everything else”.
Cass looked up to see Alia, her best friend cum office colleague smiling at her
A tad embarrassed, Cass traced the fingers of her left hand on her lower back before replying, “I know I have made a mistake. I never should have worn a backless gown. At least not if I had known that doing so would expose me such toxic comments.”
