Everything, every single thing!

And that included the once well stocked but now bereft liquor cabinet replete with prized and rare Rissian Vodka bottles, French champagnes, Scottish whisky, British ales etc;  the massive wall to wall five tiered book shelf that was choc-o-bloc with multifarious genres—Sartre, Existentialism, Jung, Darwin, Kafka, Proust, Shakespeare, Shelley, Wordsworth, O’Henry et al

Also, the much travelled all black mountain bike.

All of these, everything and anything that remained in and around the house went off the radar—sold,
bought, gifted, or plain thrown away.

Everything, except the chair.
His chair.

His cherished chair.

And now, hers.

  1. There is always a keepsake, no matter how illogical to other people.

  2. I imagine she still sees him sitting there sometimes.

  3. Some things take on more than their material value. Nice one.

  4. She’ll sit in it and remember. Good or bad I don’t know.

  5. It seems like the chair has meaning to whomever couldn’t let it go.
    Have a good weekend … Isadora 😎

  6. Of all the stuff, the chair ends up the best. Well done. 🙂

  7. You paint a great picture of him through his possessions – he sounds like a fascinating man. I love that the humble chair is his and now her most treasured thing.

  8. Dear Neel,

Obviously the chair holds more memories for her than all the rest of the stuff. Nicely done.
