A BOWL FULL OF CLUES
By Neel Anil Panicker
“It’s missing…the crucible…it’s missing.”
‘A what?’
“The crucible…was here…it’s missing.”
Detective Chacko, looked quizzically at the septuagenarian.
“What’s your father talking about? What’s this thing about the crucible?”
The 55 year old insurance manager squirmed slightly, coughed, and then muttered haltingly, “Naah! Just ignore him. My old man’s acting cranky lately. More so since he fell down the stairs and broke his spine.”
The last sentence startled Chacko.
He shot a quick glance at the younger man. Behind silver rimmed glasses, the dark grey eyes were pure evil.
“Let’s talk about the crucible,” he said looking at the older man.

Nice mix of two prompts Neel, and the start of a mystery.

Dear Neel,
Two prompts for the price of one. 😉 Nicely done.

An accident and an insurance man. Sounds suspicious to me!

Something rather reassuring about Chacko.

I like how there are clues for the detective and for us by proxy. Good storytelling!
