three line tales 233: a man standing in front of a graffitied wall

By Neel Anil Panicker

Follow your dreams—that’s what his old man said before he popped off, before he left him—an only motherless kid, a scrawny eighteen year old teen who hadn’t seen the inside of a school, or worse, ever knew what a Big Mac burger tasted like.

Obedient son that he was, follow he did his dreams—a life in and out of prison, a corner street dumpster for a bed, and a street with a view—the perks of living a rolling stone life, one that even if it desired so, could never hope to gather some moss.

And then the unthinkable happened—lightning struck; the now 22-year-old with an impish charm and a devil may care insouciance dropped his heart and fell—hook, line, and sinker—, for the most beautiful girl in Elphinstone Road, the happy result of it all—his life’s all set as a diamond ring sitting pretty on his ring finger—the pleasurable side effects of being wooed by the only child of the one of the richest men on Planet Earth.
