NO TIME TO CRY
By Neel Anil Panicker
Stella looked at the mess around her—the debauchery of the previous night’s indulgences—half eaten white ant crawling pizza crumbs, cartons of empty beer cases, ashtrays filled to the brim with cigarette stubs, torn condom packets, dirty bone china dinner plates that smelled of roasted pork and fried fish—all lay scattered all around the two room corner street Cochin dwelling that was home.
Her eyes stared up at the wall clock.
“Oh my God, it’s already ten,” she screamed, her voice betraying her deep anxiety.
At that instant, with barely fifteen minutes to go before her boyfriend’s arrival from Dubai, Stella didn’t know whether she should cry or laugh.
