DELIGHTFUL SCOOPS
By Neel Anil Panicker
As four year old Arzoo’s fingers left neat traces on the frosted glass, a wave of spasmodic fright ran through his mother’s spine.
She chased the expansive arc of her little one’s eyes.
Chocolate dipped in sauce, super cone; orange flavoured cup with sundae, vanilla scoops, mango swirl with creamy cherry toppins____Arzoo had it all skimmed and scanned, his tongue sticking out and licking ever moistening lips.
‘Gosh! he’s salivating’, wondered Simmi as she locked eyes with the apple of her eye.
Her sweetie pie gave her his best toothless smile.
She immediately melted.
It’s ice cream time, yet again.

Sweet description of mother melting in the face of Arzoo’s charm. I think I would have melted too! And I liked your sentence “She chased the expansive arc of her little one’s eyes.”. One tiny point. Arzoo is four years old. If he’s toothless, there’s something wrong!

You even got me salivating! Nice one Neel.
Here’s mine!

Dear Neel,
Very descriptive piece. Had me salivating, too.
Shalom,
Rochelle
PS I think you mean his tongue was sticking out…not stinking out. 😉

Thanks for the appreciation. Sticking out is what I meant …it came out as stinking out…blame it on auto correct , dear Rochelle

I also thought it strange that a four-year-old would be toothless–perhaps his teeth fell out from sugar poisoning?
This was a fun description of a child’s idea of heaven Neel.
