TO KILL A HUMAN BEING
By Neel Anil Panicker
‘You are my sunshine.’
There was a time, not too distant in the past, when the above lines meant the world to Rhea.
Three months, twelve days, and seven hours was all it took for the illusion to shatter.
For her world, her beautifully constructed fantasmagorical fairy world to collapse, to fall apart and break into a million pieces.
Her dream had turned to dust.
The honeymoon with illusion had ended.
It was back to the hard grind of reality, back to terra firma—warts and all.
That’s about the time, that’s all the time it took for Harish, the wolf masquerading in sheep’s clothing to break a gentle soul, to tear asunder, to shred to pieces a young impressionable and fragile 19 year old small town girl’s innocence.
To atrophy that into life long hate, a searing hatred for the male of the human species.
That was just the time needed to kill a gentle soul and turn her into stone.
That was all it needed to kill a human being without spiking blood.
