three line tales, week 203

By Neel Anil Panicker

“Well, it’s bèen over an hour and he hasn’t surfaced, which means that the sharks have have had a sumptuous breakfast, what say Peter?”

Peter extricated his gaze away from the slate grey sea waters and even as the boat bobbed a little, slightly disbalancing him, he held on to the planks with his shivering hands before replying, his eye lids taking on the colours of the setting sun, “What else do you expect would be the fate of one who has had the gumption to double cross us, Eddie?”

As the two thugs held on to their wobbly wooden planks, Eddie nodded his head and looked back just in time to see the waters change colour to a deep red, and then, even as he turned his eyes away, he thought he had spotted what looked like the half devoured hands of a man rising above the waters, the bloodied fingers barely visible in the fading light.
