“Come, have a look darling. Let me know what you see,”.
said Pari, ger voice dipped in honey.
“Hey, common, what’s there to see. And even if it were, it would be for you, not me. You know this place is not my cup of tea. I am only here…”
“For me, right Akash,” interrupted Pari before adding, “so for my sake sweetheart, I want you to come and have a look…pleeez!!!.”
The extra elongation of vowels of the last word seemed to done the trick.
For Akash pulled his eyes off the television screen and looked towards Pari.
The two lovers had just checked into the uber Hotel Himalayan Heights, that according to the glitzy brochure the receptionist had gingerly placed before them, promised “‘breathtaking views of heavenly stairs’.
Unable to shake off Pari’s pleading eyes, Akash got up and walked towards the window.
“Here, take a look. Tell me what you see,”? said Pari as she thrust a pair of binoculars towards Akash.
A minute later, Akash was back at the bed, his eyes hooked on to the game of soccer that was running on TV.
“So honey, you didn’t tell how’s it?”
Without taking his eyes off the TV screen, Akash answered, “what’s there to say? It’s not like it’s some curio kind of thing. It’s just like any other mountain peak___dark, forbidding, too high up, too.”
At that moment Pari realised that if she harboured any hopes of marrying into one of the richest families in the entire Eastern India, then she should knock off heading for the mountains from her calendar of bi-annual vacations.
