The field is a duvet that is rumpled in the right ways, so carefree than pulled straight, tufting and waving across the length and breadth of the undulating sun kissed landscape.

This and the protective umbrella of snow capped mountains that ringed all over the verdant countryside that lay claim to some of the most eye catching flora and fauna found in the northern most fringes of India was her fiefdom, hers to savour and partake of to her heart’s content.

A 360 degrees sensory perception so rich  and eclectic that her school friends literally vied, fought with one another to curry favour with Kanishka Ranawat, the insanely beautiful 17 year old high school final year girl who came from a lineage so illustrious that her family history could be traced right back to the royal court of Emperor Chandra Gupta Maurya.

Not that she played all snooty and Miss Big Shoes.

Quite on the contrary, she was a happy sould, ever bubbly and effervescent, and forever inviting friends to her summer abode in the hills at the drop of a hat

And like always, given a  very narrow three day window, the girls, all seven of them, all gung go and high on life and dying to savour the beauty of Nature away from the hustle and bustle of maddening city life, made their fortnightly sojourn to Kanishka’s abode.
Alas! little did they know that on their return journey they would be one girl short.

Unknown to them, the Devil had followed this one unfortunate soul to her grave.
