OLD LOVERS REFUSE TO FADE AWAY
By Neel Anil Panicker
“His car suffered a severe stroke in the middle of the road and refused to move forward”.
His immediate thought was to dump her.
To finally call it quits.
That what his mind told him. And it put forth a slew of facts to support its claim
For one, she was no longer young. Youthful and desirable as when he had first laid his eyes on her.
His mind’s eye travelled back in time and sepia toned images of hers flirted in and out of his minscape ala a slow motion Black ‘n’ White movie of yore.
There she was, sashaying upto him, voluptuous curves and all sending hot heat waves run through his spine.
He remembered opening her from front, back, even sideways, their bodies networking, his hands and feet caressing her hidden pleasures, the closed, the closed environs breaking out in mellifluous splutters and mutters, a string of oohs and aahs erupting like little meteors all over.
That was then, all in the past, and this was the present, circa 2019, and back to reality.
He was stranded in the middle of nowhere with a partner who clearly was well past her expiry date.
Leave her, bring in a better model, someone sexier, much more modern and definitely one with more stamina and staying power.
The decision made, the mind having won, he picked up the phone and dialled the showroom number.
“Hello, how may I help you sir. We have the latest model best in class vehicle that money can buy. What would you like to possess, Sir?”
The words almost fell out of his mouth before he checked himself, and meekly replied, “Thanks, I am happy with what I have.”
Between the battle between the mind and heart, the latter had won, at least for now..
