zaira wasim, pix? ಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶ

zaira with amir khan? ಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶ

Until she came to the ‘epiphanic’ realisation that she was ‘straying’ from the world of Allah and His teachings and decided to bid adieu to ‘BIG BAD BOLLYWOOD’, , Zaira Wazim, the cherubic two film old 18-year-old wonder girl from strife torn Kashmir was the toast of all India; was seen as a keen edged beacon of hope not just by her fellow Kashmiri Muslims but every other young girl across the length and breadth of India who looked upto to her and her awe inspiring meteoric rise to stratospheric levels in the highly competitive dog eat dog world of Indian cinema as a shining, inspirational symbol of hope; a living, shining example, a role model of what all one achieve in this land rising above narrowly defined metrices of caste, colour, creed, region, and religion.

It is no ‘secret’ that all of India saw in this plucky girl a ‘Superstar’ who had it in her to fight her way to glory in this ‘Dangal’ and as such she was bandied about as the face of A New Pluralistic India; an India that was an equal opportunities employer; a resurgent modern globally advanced India that created, nurtured, encouraged, and feted its citizens; showered laurels on them as they pushed themselves to achieve greater glories in life.

But alas! all that is now water under the bridge as rather tragically the world and its nanny got to know that India, despite its claims to set afire the world stage with its brute economic power and its dreams of taking its rightful place in the Comity of Nations, the stark, brutal and unfortunate truth is that India is still living in the Dark Ages, that India, despite its imminent super power status and its hoary dreams of taking centre stage in the world order, is still caught in a tragic time warp, that it is still living under the yoke of centuries old regressive practices’ that in India, it is not democratic principles and rules of law and governance that call the shots but what and who reigns omnipotent are rabid fundamentalism, brute bigotry and eighth century fossilized fascist mindsets.

It is indeed a sad day for Indian democracy and an even sadder day for humanity as a whole that an innocent young girl with dreams and stars in her eyes and with a bright shining, shimmering future ahead of her is forced to bow down to the mindless, fascist regressive puritanical diktats of self serving self seeking religious fundamentalists whose only agenda is to confine, lock stock and barrel, women inside stone houses and disallow them their basic fundamental rights, snatch from the freedom to choose to lead peaceful, independent lives, all in the garb of maintaining the “sanctity of their religion and protecting women from the disconcerting even predatorial gaze of  male eyes.”

Agreed, it is a person’s choice what he or she chooses to do with her life, but then given the climate of heightened religious partisanship and polarisation that we live in and the unflagging spate of new words that have fallen into our collective lexicon in recent years___words such as vigilantes, bigotry, religiosity, caliphate, fundamentalism, pogrom, communalism, fascism, libtardism et al it is but evident that yet another innocent girl with a bright future has fallen prey to the devilish, devious diabolic machinations of narrow minded social contractors of religion and caste and state and what have you.

I guess all this is a part of a game plan; part of a process, a very concerted, spirited, directed effort by all India haters to help ensure that this once great country does not become great again, and in furtherance of their agenda they are hell bent on doing all that is (in)humanly possible to fulfill in letter and spirit their clarion call___LET’S NOT MAKE INDIA GREAT AGAIN.
