WOW! THERE’S SNOW
By Neel Anil Panicker
“OMG! Have a look! Seems like we are stuck here for the entire weekend”.
Alisha walked upto the corner room window and peered out.
At first she couldn’t see much___all around was bathed a sheer white.
But then she swiped her hands and wiped clean the frost edged glass panes, she saw what bounty Nature had left behind. Gone was the small circular jacaranda tree lines frontage that led to the wide oblong park that’s a beehive of activity come the evenings. Gone too were the heart warming chirping of little birds and the elevating sight of calorie conscious joggers who glided past in choreographic fashion as they made a perfect silhouette against the brilliant rays of the still to fade out sun.
And gone too were the cute green and yellow comfy benches on which sat toothless elderly men and women__all lost in trance and meditating about life and things yonder.
All that was gone.
Instead, what greeted Mary’s eyes was the colour white. A sheer milky white that had spread and settled like a thick blanket all over.
It was as if the snow had hugged everything around like a day old baby, new and clingy.
Mary looked at the magically beauteous sight and suddenly tears dropped from her eyes___tiny droplets that streaked out and made tender love to her baby skin, now turned whiter than the whitest.
‘It’s electric“, she cried. I don’t mind being snowed in here all my life’, she cried out in sheer joy.
