TO SPOT A CLASSIC
By Neel Anil Panicker
To be frank, It was with much dislike that Stella opened the oak panelled corner room drawer her grandfather had left behind and to be sure, her first reaction was of regret: a thick coating of dust filled particles wafted out of the spaciously built compartments and permeated into her nostrils making her cough and sneeze in tandem.
It took awhile for her to get her bearings back but when she did so and looked into the opened slits, she was glad she had made the effort.
For, lying in front of her was a veritable feast for the eyes____three rows choc-a-bloc with books, books, and then some more.
The sight of the Classics ___Mobi-Dick, Odyssey, Ulysses, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Pride and Prejudice, even Raymond Chandler with his The Deep Sleep__gave her goose bumps.
Overcome with emotion, she touched her rosary and thanked her late grandfather for bequeathing to her such an invaluable wealth of wisdom.
