SINGING A DIFFERENT TUNE (genre/familydrama)

“So you make bagpipes for a living?  Does that even ensure a living? I mean who buys bagpipes in today’s jet set techno happy genre busting age?”

Richard looked across the table at the old man seated across from him in what was the portico of the latter’s sprawling beach side bungalow.

“Sir, you’re worried about Rita. Anxious to know whether the man your only child is hell bent on marrying is worthy enough of her.”

The older man raised his eyebrows even as he opened his mouth as if to say something.

The young man prodded on, “Sir, let me allay your fears. I don’t care to know how much I make but what I do know is that I can make your daughter happy as she’s in love with a man who makes music. And music makes love. And love is what we__you, me, all of us are looking for, right?”

A minute of awkward silence followed after which the old man replied, “For a young man you speak the right words. Well, who am I to say what’s good or bad for her. If she wants to follow the pied piper she’ll have to pay the piper.”
