TIME TO KILL

The sun is a bright red orb.
It’s a beautiful day no doubt.
I’m passing by Mrs Miller’s.
She’s the one who lives two blocks from where I’m put up.
I spot her, Rumble, the Golden Retriever that’s permanently stationed near the huge wrought iron gates of the Millers__ the old childless couple who’ve set base here in this back of beyond wilderness.
They’re rich. I figured that much__ rich enough to buy an entire island.
I hurl the pack of loose meat inside.
Rumble dives.
It’s not arsenic.
Is going to be slow.
I don’t mind.
I have time.

Nice one, Neel, but people will be upset you murdered the pooch!
You can bump off hundreds of folk, no one cares, but one cute puppy and there is outrage!

Dear Neel,
That was ugly. Well written. But definitely ugly. I hate to see a puppy suffer.

The dog won’t be the only victim here.

I could not like it, as I fear for the dog and a family’s future.

Mean mean man. Sometimes characters are like that. I had one who set buildings afire and watched the people come out because it made him feel closer to them.

You’ve constructed that story very well, Neel. It unfolds at its own pace, and there’s no sense at all that you were working within 100 words. Kudos!

I am glad you thought so and appreciated my effort. When such incisive feedbacks are given it proves highly beneficial.
Thanks a lot, Penny

Oh, goodness. Evil guy, poor dog.

Not the dog!!! Where’s the antedote? How far to the vet’s? The meat man is a psychopath with his chilly detachment. I do enjoy your writing though, some very interesting and refreshing turns of phrase e.g. the … couple have set base here this back of beyond wilderness. You gave lots of information very economically.

Feeling so bad for the dog! Well-written though.

Very dark indeed. Especially since I have a Golden Retriever. Funny how killing a dog is the darkest of darks. 🙂
