DIGGING ABOUT

PHOTO PROMPT © Connie Gayer

By Neel Anil Panicker

Hey, so this is what I do nowadays ever since I bid adieu to the artsy world of crime solving.

I mean look at me; furrowing and ploughing my way through knee length dirt and slush, spending whole afternoons and the better part of evenings digging and baling out huge tracts of earth, all in the vain hope that some ferns and fronds bloom and brighten up the dreary environs  that encase my post-retired existence.

Hey, I just stomped on something. It’s a man’s foot.  A man’s foot? In my garden? Someone’s hell bent on plucking me out of retirement.

  2. Dear Neel,

Perhaps retirement just wasn’t in the deal for him. There’s always a case poking up when you least expect it. 😉 Good one.

  9. Great little story. I can just imagine the conflict between Sharma (it is Sharma, isn’t it?) and the (incompetent? Over-competent? Hyper-ambitious?) inspector who is given charge of the case!
