The end, the fall from grace, the willful destruction of self came in bits and pieces.

It started with the detection of cancer.

It looks benign. Nothing much to worry about. Just a slight change in your daily routine, a minor alteration in diet plans and bingo, life carries on as usual.”

The doctor’s words served as a palliative. It worked like the placebo that it was meant to be. The feeling that all was right in his world lasted almost a decade.

A minor surgery in the interim (“Sorry, we had to remove one of your kidneys. But relax, you are completely cured”) did wonders for his ego.

The hulk was back doing what he did best__ rising to his entire six foot tall glory, bursting out on all cylinders, his rock-like fists knocking down criminals as if they were nine pins. The rat tat tat of his AK 47 again began to reverbrate in the skies, assuring us that ‘Super Cop’ was back in business.

All that were the last maddening flames before the embers died out.

The malevolent killer struck again.

He didn’t want to be just another white elephant.

This time he wanted to go out all guns blazing.

A bullet through his head was his way out.
