36 HOURS LATER…
INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
“How is she now, Doctor?”
Senior Consultant and Head of Surgical Department Dr. Arvind Deshmukh lifted his eyes from the stack of medical reports at his desk and looking up replied,
“Lucky. She is lucky to have survived. I must say very lucky. If she had been brought here even five minutes late there was no chance of her survival. In fact we were able to flush out 500 mg of Melatonin from his abdomen. And that’s a very heavy overdoze. But now she is out of danger and with further care will be able to walk out in a week.”
SP City Isaac John heaved a huge sigh of relief and begged his leave after thanking the doctor and his team of specialists who had managed to save the life of innocent Ishwari.

While these two have been found guilty of direct involvement in the case, two other accused, then Minister of Heavy Industries Chandy and then State Police Chief DGP K J Alphonso have been found guilty of directly conniving with and actively assisting the above two accused in the commissioning of the crimes and subsequent hiding, destruction of evidence, besides being found guilty under various sections of attempt to murder and wilful lying under oath. They have been awarded life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 50 lakhs each.
Four other accused who were found guilty of the crimes were Ms, Priya Raghavan, alleged mistress of Praksham, Ms. Ranjini Mathew, whom the court noted simply as ‘good friend’ of IAS Officer Rajesh Yadav, Biju Kottarakara and Vincent Pala, notorious contract killers. All of them have been charged with murder, attempt to murder, willful cover up and providing logistics support to the main accused and have each received seven to twelve year jail terms. It may be noted that…”
Stepping out of the packed courtroom, SP CITY Isaac John walked away from the glare of TV cameras and headed straight to his police jeep.
As the driver revved up the engine, he commanded, “Fort Cochin. I want to meet Detective Willie.”
