“So what?”

‘You sure? Don’t blame me after the fall, Ok?’

“Now where did ‘fall’ come in our marriage?”

‘Hmm…wait let me see. Ok, over there. Can you see that crinoline?’

“What about it?”

‘See, it’s top wide and then it tapers down in smaller concentric circles.’

‘You’re there, at the outside, looking down at me.’

“And desperately wanting to marry you”.

‘Well, nothing wrong. It’s only that once you come in, there’s no going back. You are trapped for ever. I become the epicentre of your universe.’

“I’m game for it.”

‘Down you go, my dear victim’.

  1. Sounds like they are going beyond a point of no return. Not a very optimistic start. Maybe they should think twice, sleep on it and give it a year before deciding anything..

  2. Great dialogue! Is it a crinoline or a web? I have to wonder now.

  3. I think these two people need to think more about this. Great story.

  4. Dear Neel,

They might want to reconsider and think things over. What seems like an adventure in the beginning can turn into a prison. Well done.

  5. Maybe they will or they will marry in haste and repent at leisure. Thanks Rochelle

  7. Well, he can’t say she didn’t warn him! Perhaps he imagines he wants to be trapped in marriage; but those who are trapped tend to be eaten…

  8. This reminds me of the spider and the fly. A different take.

  9. Bit like going down the gurgler only this is a funnel which makes me think of our funnel web spider. Good story Neel. I fear for your female victim.

  10. Goodness! This sounds like a trap. I’d run if I were her.

  11. Spiders and webs. I wouldn’t want to be the epicenter of anyone else’s existence. Shiver.
