Finding nothing unusual in the cheap plastic ID card that read ‘SANITATION DEPARTMENT, GOVT. OF NCT, DELHI, Constable Murugan of the armed Tamil Nadu Police standing guard outside the main entrance of Tiz Hazari Courts waved the nondescript white Toyota in.
The car winged its way past the thickly populated eclectic mix of mid-afternoon milieu of justice seekers, justice dispensers, and justice ‘brokers’, to finally halt under the giant peepal tree that held pride of place at the Central Courtyard beyond which lay the red brick stone building that housed the main court house.
Afzal Guru, the most dreaded mafia don of Old Delhi had arrived; seated beside him in the driver’s seat was Salim Mirchi, his most trusted aide.
