As the paperweight swirled around the table top, Inspector Sharma went over his meeting with Lisa. She had disclosed to him her apprehensions. “Sir, I’m dead sure they are planning to kill both Ali and me. And it’s going to happen tomorrow__either within or around the court premises.”

The wily cop closed his eyes; a visual from a National Geographic episode that he had watched not so long ago came alive. A falcon swooped down on a hapless pigeon. The bird hunter smiled from a distance as his prey flapped her wings around desperately inside an unseen netted cage.

Afzal Guru, the mafia don; Lisa, his daughter; Ali, her lover; Sharma, the cop; the characters were in place, their props hunter, prey, bait in place. It was only a matter of figuring out who was playing what role.
