‘Tiger out on the prowl. Want to cage it. Interested? Meet tomorrow night, Fifth Lane, Third Avenue, Mayapuri Industrial Area. 11 sharp. Bye. You know who.’
For the third time in the evening Inspector Sharma peered at the piece of near crumpled paper that lay on his desk, and then closed his eyes, his hands slowly rubbing the nape of his neck in concentric circles. The phone beside him rang but oblivious to it, his senses were hurtling down memory lane, past old bylanes, near decrepit buildings, and an incident that happened one wintry evening several years ago.
Slowly, as it travelled down memory lane, the mind’s eyes clicked open and a confetti of half faded fleeting images began to form themselves into one clear scene, a happening, or more appropriately, a mishap.
