LOST IN THE WOODS (172 words)
By Neel Anil Panicker
‘What’s that?,” Nikki asked, pointing towards the small metallic thing that Inder held in his hands.
“Oh! This is a wood moisture water.”
‘A what?’
“You see wood are much like human beings. There are various species around, each with its own specific gravity”.
Inder picked up a log of wood and continued, “See this. This one is oak__pure hardwood. Ebony is of even harder density. You may require both or even other types if you are planning to build a house. The success of the work depends on the correct moisture content levels of the wood you use and that varies from region to region.”
‘Wow! That’s a load of info. I never knew all that. In fact I have never seen so much wood in all my life,’ Nikki exclaimed.
It was then that Inder’s eyes fell on the chainsaw a mere foot away from where they were.
It was stained…with blood.
Damn it. How could he be so stupid?
Pulling Nikki by the arm, he hurriedly led her out.
