A RIDE TO REMEMBER  (99 words)

PHOTO PROMPT © Jellico’s Stationhouse

By Neel Anil Panicker

Wagging her little finger towards the WW1 era metallic grey bicycle, Sara said, “Why don’t you dispose that off?”

Greatgrandpa drew in a sharp breath and hoisted his youngest greatgrandchild onto his quivering lap.

“If it were not for it, I would not have met your greatgrandma, my dear.”

Lying on the bed, her heavily lined centurion face a bright beam of sunlight, greatgrandma broke into a toothless grin.

She held forth her arthritic laden hands.

As if on cue, greatgrandpa bent down and clasped them in his wet palms.

“It’s been one helluva ride, she whispered sheepishly.

  3. Dear Neel,

Harley riders are fond of saying, “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the ride.” I think that fits this couple of lovebirds. Very sweet story. Love it.
