“He’s no good for our daughter,” I said to Mary.
I could hear her muted breath as she joined me under the sheets.
“Too rustic, a riff-raff nobody”.
A minute elapsed and still no response.
Instead, she just cuddled upto me, her hands drumming my chest.
“I mean, look at him. What does he do besides strumming that stupid guitar of his. Gosh! doesn’t even go to college.”
She circled her fingers around the back of my nape.
“I fear she will regret this”.
‘Remember, you were a worse boyfriend at 19’, she said, adding, “we haven’t done bad either’.
