By Neel Anil Panicker

The sea always held him in a trance.  Especially now, close to dusk, with the entire beach at his disposal, and with the waters, all calm and azure, beckoning him ala a mermaid.

They were near the turnaround and David could see that Jennifer was enjoying herself__inhaling in the cool evening breeze that blew in from a near empty sea barring the lone boat that tossed about in the frothy waters.

But when she puffed in breath through her nostrils, the vibrations coming in a loud purring sound, David knew it was time to let her go.

He loosened the rein, bent her down to a walk, and then sliding one hand down the left rein, brought her to a stop.

Jennifer flicked her ears back and forth; rolled her eyes; and then in a final gesture of disapproval tucked her tails and shrivelled.

“Here son, take her. From now, she is all yours”.
