Wealthily unhealthy

By Neel Anil Panicker

There are two types of persons who show off their wealth.

The first are the ones who simply like to show off, be it anything including a new pet cat that one has  bought from the flea market at a bargain or the new car or house one has built or even the brand new husband or wife one has acquired or even the horrendous amount of money that one has won at the races.

They look at all these as mere acquisitions grand enough to tom-tom to the world and its neighbour.

They are, by nature, otherwise harmless, even agreeable, men and women.

It is the other type that we should be worried about. These are the ones who have been newly indoctrinated into the world of riches and so, quite mistakenly, believes that due to this, the world revolves around him or her.

The first type of person suffers from a universal human need to show off one’s supposed superiority over others and frankly, we don’t mind that and thereby allow such people to carry on with their grand show of showing off.

It is the latter type of person who is to be shunned for he (or, she, for that matter) equates wealth with goodness and, that is the most unethical, stupid, and if I may add, unhealthy stand anyone can take.
